The EL Environment Working Group met in Paris during the COP21
The Environment Working Group of the Party of the European Left (EL), composed of 33 countries on the transforming left , has met today in Paris, in the context of the Climate Summit COP21 to follow and analyse the negotiations and participate in the activities of alternative proposals with the society .
The EL Environment Working Group pointed that the fight against climate change and the globalised neoliberal economic development are closely linked. It is clear that the need for an ecological transition and the current means of production and consumption are now incompatible with the policies advocated by the doctrine of globalised financial capitalism.
The participants are concerned for the development of the ongoing negotiations, but they also expressed the hope to achieve that the logic of sustainable development and human emancipation will finally prevail over the socially blind logic of the immediate profit. In order to get that, a transition towards such a society should be one of solidarity.
The EL Environmental Working Group had already participated in the COP15 in Copenhagen in 2009 demonstrating that they are fully committed to combat all the policies which provoke the clime change as the same time as they back the proposals made by engaged society that is working in this common struggle.
Now it is the time for the Heads of State to show they listen the society and are really responsible with the fragile future of this planet. We do not accept the so poor financial and economic resources invested to the human and environmental development meanwhile they spend huge budget in the arms trade and the war
Our choice is clear: to place the interest of the planet and its people as a top priority, what it is for us the only way to reduce inequalities and warrantee the peace.
