Syriza was the host of the Council of Chairperson of the Party of the European Left (EL) that met again, for the second time this year, in Athens. They did last Friday June 19, at a critical moment in the negotiations and the day after the Truth Commission, which is investigating the Greek debt, presented at the Hellenic Parliament the first conclusions that declare the debt illegitimate, illegal, odious and unsustainable, giving sufficient arguments for not to pay it and declare the agreements invalid.

Tassos Koronakis, General Secretary of Syriza received the leaders of the parties that composed the EL, and concluded the meeting by thanking the solidarity "that is going to count much for us” ” in this situation “difficult, with many pressures”.

"In addition to the future of Greece and the austerity measures, what is at stake is whether Europe and the Euro zone will continue respecting national sovereignty and democracy. What is at issue is if people has the right to question the dominant forces in Europe", said

Greece is the first country questioning the austerity as the only solution to the crisis, and it does through the mandate made by the Greek people to their Government. "What happens in Greece will be decisive for the European neoliberal policies, because the situation is not only critical for Greece, but for the whole Europe," concluded the leader of Syriza.
