This Friday 23rd and Saturday 24th will be held in Barcelona the I Forum of the South of Europe will be held in Barcelona, an initiative of Syriza, Izquierda Unida (IU) and Iniciativa per Catalunya Verds-Esquerra Unida i Alternativa (ICV-EUIA), supported by the Party of the European Left (EL) and the European Green Party. With the motto #SouthrEUvolution, this Forum will work to construct a common alternative to austerity and to the politics that Europe imposes to the countries of the South.

The meeting will bring together more than 50 organizations, parties, social movements, trade unions and intellectuals at the European level with the aim of forging new alliances and building a common strategy to put an end to the policy of austerity at European level. In short, to a discourse for the whole of Europe - elaborated by the south of Europe.

During these two days of work, outstanding voices of the Greek, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian and French left, will present alternatives in terms of economy, human rights and social and environmental policies. It will be debated on measures against austerity and restructuring of debt, but also about immigration, xenophobia, public services, ecology and climate change, the TTIP, gender inequality and class, the right to housing and social exclusion, among other topics.
