Tomorrow, Saturday, Nov. 15, citizens rallies "for an alternative to austerity" will be held in major cities of France, at the call of the “Collectif 3A”, which brings together over 70 organizations of the French political and social left. The Party of the European Left affirms its support for this initiative and wish great success to the mobilization.

This event is a matter of general interest to the French and European peoples. The French parliament is ready to adopt a budget with 21 billion euros cuts while validated this year 50 billion tax and social gifts to big companies.

It is no longer necessary to prove neither social damage of austerity, nor its economic inefficiency. Unemployment figures in Europe, the general decline in the purchasing power, the continuous destruction of productive tools and public services, the growth forecasts and the risk of deflation speak for themselves.

Now is the time to mobilize to stop these policies and to build left alternatives in our countries and at European level.
