This victory is one of the people who wanted to defend the social achievements reached during the last 12 years of progressive governments. It is also the victory of a project on the defence of popular sovereignty and a high level social content. It is the expression of the will of the Brazilian people in favour of thorough reforms on the democratization of the political system, on policies to fight inequalities, and of clear support to the progressive integration of the countries of Latin America.

The EL welcomes and congratulates the left parties in Brazil which carried out a combative campaign against the aggression of the opposition assembled around Alesio Neves, candidate of the Social democratic Party of Brazil, who did not stop using the dirtiest methods to try to win this election.
