The EL calls for an end of the north-American blockade on Cuba
Tomorrow, on the 29th of October, Cuba asks the General Assembly of the United Nations, for the 22nd time, to consider the necessity of ending the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba for already 53 years.
The international community positions itself clearly against this unjust blockade and last year 188 of the 193 countries constituting the UN, so 97,4% of the member countries, voted for an end of the blockade.
As the Party of the European Left we denounce this policy of the United States as inhuman and illegitimate, which is why we urge our respective countries to endorse the Cuban petition and to vote in favour to definitively finish with this blockade and that historic injustice. Moreover, we urge the European Union to withdraw from its Common Position.
