The country of Venezuela is living one of the most important moments in its history: they have to demonstrate that the Bolivarian revolution, which was launched by the president Chavez, can keep on going without his presence, as he left the way opened and clear. Chavez governed for his people for 14 years and his people learnt, with his help, how to believe, to live and also how to fight when it was required for the democracy, like for example the coup d'état of 2002.
During the funerals, the vast majority of Venezuelan people showed that they were with Chavez; they demonstrated as well that, from that moment on, they would be with Nicolas Maduro, and they will show it on the 14th of April at the ballot boxes. The Party of the European Left wants to let the Venezuelan citizens know that we are with them, we will always support them and that we also feel the pain for the early death of their president Hugo Chavez.
That is why the Party of the European Left sympathizes with the events which are taking place these days around the world to remember the legacy that Chavez left, not only in Venezuela, but in the whole Latin America and all over the world. Maduro has taken responsibility for following the same way.
The Party of the European Left will be remembering Chavez at the tributes which take place in hundreds of cities around the world such as, Madrid, Paris, Brussels, Athens, Rome, Berlin…. by joining all the countries which believe in the Bolivarian revolution and in the socialism of the XXI. century.
