Mohamed Brahmi, elected Deputy in the National Constituent Assembly by the citizens of Sidi Bouzid, has been murdered yesterday in front of his family.
This man, in charge the Tunisian Popular front, born in the region where the revolts of 2011 began, fought for individual and collective freedom, democracy and social development.
Numerous attacks occurred against opponents to the Islamic regime, trade workers, progressive, feminist and intellectual people. These murders often stay unpunished, allowing the confederacies close to Ennahdha to terrorize people. This government is politically responsible for Chokri Belaïd and Mohamed Brahmi's murders. Justice and security have to be quickly re-established.
The European Left Party builds political solidarities with progressive people of the Mediterranean Sea, noticeably the Tunisians. It denounces the ruling political islamism which decreases democracy in the pluralist elections, allowing no place for the rights, the rules and the spirit of democracy.
We support the popular movements which want to set life to a political transition process in Tunisia for democracy, social and economical equality of the citizens
