The Executive Board of the Party of European Left met this weekend in Luxembourg to discuss the austerity policies introduced by the governments without any social justice and the answers from the Left, which will be officially presented in the next Congress in the “Joint Action Platform for resistance and alternatives in Europe“, defining the main lines of action of the EL in the next years. Also, regarding the 3rd EL Congress, the EL Feminist network EL-FEM met on friday to discuss the preparations towards the Women's Assembly in the 2nd of December.
During the meeting hosted by Dei Lenk, the Party of European Left condensed the work that is being done since January to prepare the concrete programme for the future with alternative proposals to fight the crisis and to strengthen Left in Europe , together with the social movements, the different organisations and the trade unions in a document that designs a common line of a common platform.
The crisis doesn't have a close end and the Party of the European Left must react against the austerity policies imposed by the governments for the extermination of the social state and the demolition of real growth, reducing services, salaries and incomes. The current policies that are decreasing public revenues are combined with observation like in authoritarian systems and with social dumping and provoke the expropriation of democracy. In this difficult moment, our societies must realize that we're facing a coherent neo-liberal strategy and the introduction of IMF in Eurozone, contrasting with real solidarity systems.
In view of the upcoming Euro-demonstration in the 29th of September, "No to austerity – Priority for jobs and growth!" and other related events all over Europe, the EL is mobilizing all its structures for the biggest participation possible. The Euro-demonstration will represent the force of the social platforms in a common struggle for a different social model.
But the fight must continue after this day with a concrete and practical European political action line for a united European front that evolves with daily changes. Local networks of solidarity should be energized without replacing the social role of the state or giving a philanthropic image but showing that there is an effective alternative.
The EL welcomed the Bulgarian Left as a new member of our political family, and United Cyprus Party as an observer party, with great expectation for a deep cooperation in several future projects.
