Grigore Petrenco, international secretary of the Communist Party of Moldova emphasized the importance of realizing this event in Chisinau, where the Constitution and the democratic values are being attacked by a government that does not represent the majority of the country.

The crisis is not seen as a moment anymore, it became the normality and it is affecting our democratic values and the Left wing has always fought for equality between people. The Left has the responsibility of trying to make the things better, we cannot merely accept what it is being imposed now without resisting. Democracy and Equality should be in the centre of the debate and the gender differences cannot be forgotten in this critical moment.

The global crisis is changing the relations between countries and increasing the exploitation of the weakest and the intervention of social forces to create a more equal society is needed more than ever. The relations between developed and undeveloped countries are extremely unbalanced and need to be regulated by international regulation.

However, we must evaluate what will replace this system. The financial crisis led us to a big depression with a colossal public debt and austerity measures cannot represent a solution and will infect the society during years. The power is concentrated in the hands of people living off unearned income. The capitalist system originated an extreme unbalance of powers that persists in global finance and creates the deregulation and privatization. From the social side, the salaries of workers were extremely penalised and the wealth distribution becomes even more disproportionate. The educational system was also affected by privatizations and the access to free education is being ruined by liberal governments in many European countries.

The 29 th of September, European Day of Action, can represent the real concept of the fight for a better Europe and an authentic social model that puts the power in the hands of people, and the demonstrations should be broadened through all the European countries.

We want a new construction of the society and not just a part of it, but this construction must include our common values of freedom and equality between people that are now oppressed by the financial and globalised system.
