The proposals from the Left have to be visible and coherent, showing that European Left forces stand united and fight together against the neoliberal policies and institutions and the globalised financial capitalism, concluded the Presidents of the several European Left member parties from Austria, Belgium, Belarus, Czech Republic, Cyprus, Estonia, Greece, Germany, France, Italy, Portugal, Spain and Turkey.
The Party Presidents reaffirmed their support to the European Day of Action in 29 September and agreed that this crucial day of action, together with the forthcoming mobilizations against the NATO summit in October, in Lisbon, can become important steps for the reinforcement of European social struggles and the convergence of the political left, trade unions and the social movements.
The recent developments in the various countries demonstrate that the crisis is affecting social, ecological, economic and also institutional spheres in every country and that unemployment is reaching unprecedented levels, together with the austere attacks against social rights acquired during the last 100 years. The mobilizing capacity of the social movements should be improved, contributing to a new balance of power, which is indispensable for the task of building a new social model against poverty and social dumping.
The way governments chose to fight the crisis will only worsen the crisis. The European Left fights against the present attacks against democracy which is operated in the name of neoliberal governments' "effectiveness" and reinforces the emergence of right wing and xenophobic trends. The majority of European citizens are under attack and its time the Left becomes more united and thus more effective, in order to fight against the demolition of our social rights and the assault of financial speculative markets.

The Council of Chairpersons also confirmed the membership of the new parties presented in Barcelona Ex Board meeting and agreed to continue working for the realization of a motivating political document, which will underline the answers of the European Left to the crisis and will be presented in the 3rd EL Congress, in Paris, in the first weekend of December.
