We take park in this tribute with much sadness but also with great joy for celebrating that the Cuban people has had one of the best and biggest revolutionaries of history”, stated yesterday Maite Mola, Vice-President of the Party of the European Left (EL) after participating in the massive tribute paid to Fidel Castro in the Revolution Square next to the monument of the national hero José Martí, and images of Camilo Cienfuegos and Ernesto Che Guevara.

Maite Mola recalled "the impressive legacy” Fidel leaves. “The more you read and more you study Fidel, more clear it is how fully valid his policy is nowadays, as also happens with Pasionaria. Therefore, we make this tribute not as something from the past but the present and future".

Maite Mola, who forms the EL delegation together with Fabio Amato, member of the EL Secretariat and the Executive Board, signed the condolence book of international delegations. The tribute gave rise to a great meeting of the Latin American left to strengthen its commitment and continue its struggle against imperialism, for social justice, solidarity and equality.

The EL, knowing the death of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, already issued a statement recalling that besides being one of the most important political figures of the world left "is a fundamental reference for the organizations of the left that work, as we do, for a radically different society".
