European Left is growing

In Italy EL individual members founded an association

On Sun da y 12 February Italian El individual members founded an association in Perugia during a meeting called “European Alternatives: from Berlin to Rome the movements address the Left”, in which Fausto Bertinotti , EL chairman and secretary of the Communist Refoun da tion Party (Italy) and Lothar Bisky, chairman of the Left Party (Germany) took also part.

The Free Association of  Individual Members of the EL Italian Section, so the name of the association, intends to be an open network and a vital centre to work out and spread ideas in politics, culture, economy and social sciences, and give in this way a contribution to the rise of a new political subject, whose aim is to change society and economy radically. This was made possible according to article 6 of the EL Staute, according to which those who are not members of any party belonging to the EL,  /span> can become EL individual members./span>

The Perugia debate was very articulated, and included contributions of intellectuals, personalities, experts from different sectors, and also individuals expressing their need for a change from their own point of view. What they all shared was radical changes and most of the participants advocated a new language in politics.
