The Marches of Dignity took the streets in 40 cities of Spain

On Saturday November 29th, the Marches of Dignity took again the streets of 40 Spanish cities, concluding a week of demonstrations under the slogan "Bread, work, shelter and dignity". More than 100 activities were carried out during the day and thousands of people walked from more than 30 directions. In a State of "social emergency", people went out to the streets to claim a life of dignity and rights.

Izquierda Unida and the Communist Party of Spain (PCE), alongside the platform of those affected by the mortgage, the Popular Solidarity Network (RSP), the Civic Front, social and political organizations, trade unions as well as different sectors (as the education and sanity), and historical memory associations against impunity, among many others, were part of hundreds of organizers who participated in these mobilizations. They have shown that eight months after the huge demonstration in the capital, where the past 22 March groups from all Spain converged, gathering more than one million protesters, the different sectors and their demands are not only still alive, but organized.

Several tens of thousands of people met in Madrid, supporting groups that came from different parts of the community. The lead banner called for “No payment of the debt. Outside the Troika´s Governments. No more cuts. Bread, shelter and work”. Some claims where developed in the manifesto read by a spokesman for the movement at the ending of the demonstration. The manifesto called against the payment of "illegal, illegitimate and odious" debt , for decent employment with rights, basic income, the right to housing and public services for all and the rupture of the free trade between the European Union and United States (TTIP).
