The aim of the EL Balkan Network is to overcome isolation and lack of communication, to exchange ideas and experiences, try to find the widest possible convergences and to work together for common actions, initiatives and campaigns. Through the creation of the Balkan Network EL opened a radically different, alternative, left strategic perspective for the Balkans. The political framework of the EL Balkan Network includes: fight for peace and opposition against the escalating militarization of this region; fight for a social way-out from the crisis; fight against all forms of nationalism, racism, sexism, homophobia and repression, for guaranteed civil and political liberties; mobilization against all xenophobic national and European policies against migrants and for immediate measures for improving migrants' housing, healthcare, assistance and education; fight for a socially orientated, sustainable development and for interregional and cross-border cooperation for energy policies, biological diversity and  protection of natural resources.
