Before the meeting of the Eurogroup Gregor Gysi, President of the Party of the European Left, explains: “Before the important elections in the Netherlands, France and Germany the pressure on the Greek government shall rise. The German Finance Minister Schäuble is still playing the hardliner, including dangerous mind games regarding an euro-exit of Greece and demands on a further exacerbation of the austerity policy. Reasonable are other steps: the ongoing programme review has to be finished as soon as possible, without IMF if needed. Long-term debt reliefs for the whole Eurozone have to be immediately approached, so that also Greece can take control of its own destiny.”
