The Party of the European Left (EL) condemns the terrorist attack suffered yesterday by a young socialist organization in the Turkish city of Suruç executed by the Islamic State, with more than 30 people killed and injuring dozens of people.

It is convenient to remind that this young organization was preparing a joint action to reconstruct social premises destroyed by the terrorists, also to distribute toys among the children, to plant a memorial forest and to build a library in the near of Kobane. It has been the worst attack in Turkey since 2013 when the terrorists killed more than 50 people.  

The AKP government is also responsible for what happened, for his ties to the creation and development of the Islamic state , it is true that as it has been said by Erdogan “terror has no religion, no country and no race”  but it is more true that the Islamic State is the consequence of the strategy of redesigning process of imperialist powers on Middle East in order to recover control over crucial territories in the region. In this sense at the beginning of the destabilization process in the region there was a kind of rearming behavior oriented to the strengthening of fundamentalist Islamic forces able to fight against the governments. 

In this way it becomes more urgent than never a UN joint action able to stop the present madness in the region and to recover a rational trend in the efforts of the different protagonists.

Meanwhile the European Left Party expresses their support to the left and democratic forces of Turkey that are playing a very positive role in all this conflict trying to introduce the values of tolerance, democracy and defence of human rights as the only way to reach a peaceful situation in the region.
