Brexit is a serious warning signal for the European Union (EU). It cannot simply proceed as before otherwise it could fall apart. There is only  a future for the EU if it is able to win over majorities in all  populations of the member states. Yet, to achieve that European politics, largely determined by the German government, must change essentially. The European Union must become solidary, socially just, democratic, peaceful, ecologically sustainable, transparent and non-bureaucratic. In short: the European idea and not the profit seeking of large corporations needs to become the benchmark of politics again. That is why we urgently need a policy change in Germany as well.
