Following the work of the first European forum for alternatives, I would like to launch two appeals.

The first call is to open to all political associative forces, civic and unionist in Europe to have our voice heard in solidarity with Greece. We arrive at a decisive period. The month of June will be a crucial month for Greece. A crucial month for democracy and for the European peoples. The Greek government, since being elected, has kept its promises. He has not betrayed the word of the Greek people. He has not betrayed the mandate for which he was elected. It rightly seeks, it seeks with spirit of responsibility an agreement with the European authorities. The Greek government keeps its commitments. The reality is not that we are told every day. Since the assumption of office of this government, Greece repaid seven billion euros to its creditors. In return, not one euro has been paid from Europe to Greece. It is not Greece that has a problem, indeed. It is Europe that has a problem with the respect for the Greek people. Based on the proposals of the Greek Government, a reasonable agreement is possible and everything must be done to get it. There is today a face to face. On one side of the "hardliners", the "adventurist" as the German finance minister, who want to break and looking to lock up Greece in this alternative: surrender or expulsion. On the other, an elected government that seeks to implement its program and calls for solidarity. It must be repeated, Greece is not a tenant of Europe, which large landowners could dismiss or extort money. Greece is a great democracy, a sovereign nation. Greece is co-owner of Europe, as any other country.

So I call you to deploy throughout the month of June, the maximum solidarity initiatives all around Europe in support of Greece. Multiply the actions in all countries to grow the anti-austerity protests and get this agreement which is perfectly possible. From June 20 to 27, a European Solidarity Week alongside Greece was decided. We must give it a lot of momentum in our countries and use the echo of European forum for alternative for this. Commit you in this mobilization. Let’s multiply initiatives and do demonstrations, like that which has been decided for the 20 of June in Paris, a great moment of solidarity. In these mobilizations, do bring our proposals. I will mention only one: the European Central Bank issued 1,200 billion. This money should not go to banks to feed finance and speculation. We propose to put that money into a fund that will support the development of public services, the investment in ecological transition, higher wages and social recovery. By doing this, we find the money to the recovery of Greece and Europe.

The second appeal I wish to make concerns the role that France can play or not to play. It is not a coincidence that we decided to keep the European forum for alternatives in Paris, Place de la Republique. Because France, which said NO ten years ago to the European Constitutional Treaty can play an important role in what is happening in Greece. This call we solemnly launch to the President of the Republic, François Hollande. We say to him: France must be with Alexis Tsipras and the Greek government. France will be itself, will be great if it will be at the appointment to respect the choices of Greek. It will be shameful and weakened if it is lacking in this crucial moment in European history. I appeal to all French personalities present at the forum and all those who were unable to participate in our work, but who have the same requirements of justices that we have. I suggest that together, before June 20, we drive a joint delegation to the Elysée to require the President of the Republic that he undertakes alongside Greece. Every day that passes brings us closer to either an agreement with Greece, which would open a new path to Europe as a whole, or the breaking of which no one can measure the consequences. I said the first day, I repeat today: the reason is in Athens and madness on the side of those who want to continue in this deadly spiral. We ask France to finally play the role which it must be worthy.
