"We must stop liberal dogmatism" said Pierre Laurent, President of the Party of the European Left (EL), at the opening of the European Forum for alternatives (EF4A), hold  this weekend in Place de la Republique of Paris. "Only the union of all forces, only the convergence will change the current balance of power in Europe"

And this is the goal of this EF4A organized, among others, by the Party of the European Left in one of the most representative public squares of the French capital. It was precisely France the country that 10 years ago celebrated the victory of the NO to the European Constitutional Treaty which sat bases of this liberal Europe. And it is France again where today,  Pierre Laurent’s words, we celebrate the Yes to the Europe of people's power and peoples’ sovereignty, the Europe of solidarity and peace: "Europe has a future, and not by this path where they are taking us but by the path of solidarity".

Although the idea of this forum was born in the last Congress of the EL, in 2013, the President made it clear that this is not the Forum of the Party of the European Left, but the Forum of all those from the politics, trade unionism, social movements, culture, activism and citizenship intended to assemble and work for economic, social, political and environmental alternative policies to the neoliberalism.

He explained that through this forum it has been building the road of the common solutions for the future of Europe, the Europe of rights and peoples, the Europe defending public goods and services such as education, health, water, labor rights, wages, pensions, the sustainable development to stop the climate change, the Europe standing for and promoting the rights of women - supporting the campaign for the decent work that is currently being carried out in Spain – the Europe that uphold the right of strike which is increasingly being attacked, and also, undoubtedly, peace.

All the topics quoted by the president of the EL will be developed during these two days in 30 workshops and 3 plenary seasons, in a big event of political and social construction where are participating more than 30 European political parties, 12 political youth organizations, 18 European trade unions and more than 80 international associations.

Solidarity with Greece

Greece is one of the main protagonists of this forum bearing the name of "Alliance against austerity". The next few weeks will be crucial because in June the negotiations between the European institutions and the Greek government will come to an end, and Greece needs international solidarity. That is why the June 20 there will be demonstrations and actions all around Europe within the framework of European week of mobilization –ending  the 27th  in Athens- in support of the Greek people, against the austerity and for the democracy, "to build with Greece the victory for all the peoples of Europe".

Besides the victory of Syriza in Greece, the plenary applauded the good results that confluence of the social and political movement - United Left and Podemos among them - have had in the municipal and regional elections in Spain.

In the opening plenary, entitled "Enough of austerity. Our goal: the human development in Europe" also participated the president of the Hellenic Parliament Zoe Konstantopoulou, Emmanuelle Cosse (French national secretary of EELV green party), Pouria Amirshahi (Member PS), Angelo Basile (Secretary of the belgian FGTB MWB), Philip Van Keirsbilck (Coordinator of the Alter Summit, Belgium), Hervé Falciani (responsible for disclosing the so-called list Falciani of HSBC) and Graziella Satin, who spoke of the struggle that the APHP is taking in France.
