International conference against all forms of fascism, nationalism and discrimination
July, 5-6, 2014, Minsk (Republic of Belarus)
On July, 5-6, 2014 in Minsk was held an international conference against all forms of fascism, nationalism and discrimination organized by the Party of the European Left and the Belarusian Party of the Left “Fair World”. The conference took place in the days of celebration of the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from German fascist occupiers.
The conference was attended by representatives of leftist and social democratic parties and organizations from Belarus, Bulgaria, Hungary, Russia and Estonia. There were made presentations on topics such as “The Party European Left in the struggle against fascism, nationalism and discrimination, for peace and social Europe” by Margarita Mileva (Party of the European Left, Political Party "Bulgarian left"), “Strengthening of fascism and neo-nazism: challenge for the left-wing forces in Europe” by Attila Vajnai (Party of the European Left, Workers' Party of Hungary 2006), “Modern forms of ideology and practice of fascism” by Sergey Vozniak (Belarusian Party of the Left “Fair World”), “Radical-right forces of Belarus and events in Ukraine” by Oleg Novikov (Internet project LEFT.BY), “Problems of xenophobia and national intolerance in multinational Russia” by Boris Guseletov (Party “Just Russia”), “Rehabilitation and glorification of Nazism in the Baltic countries” by Sergey Jurgens (Coordination Council of Russian Compatriots in Estonia) and others.
During the discussion the participants in the conference analyzed the political and socio-economic reasons for the rise of fascism, chauvinism and other forms of extreme nationalism and came to conclusion that the current situation is a logical consequence of the sharpening of the contradictions in the imperialist stage of the development of capitalism, solution of which might just be the liquidation of the capitalist system of public relations. The exploiting class, striving to maintain its dominant position forever, tries as it has repeatedly happened in the history, to play with the nationalist card as a tool for the detachment of the workers from the class struggle with the real culprits for the decline of the social relations.
At the same time they provoke an anticommunist hysteria, trying to discredit the left idea and lead broader struggle for the destruction of the workers' rights. In these conditions, the leftist, communist and socialist parties should join their forces to reach the minds of people with an understandable and an attractive alternative to social development in interests of workers and to create a broad front to combat the growing danger of neo-nazism, neofascism and chauvitnism.
