Go to newsThe Party of the European Left supports the democratic claims in Turkey and protests against governmental corruption
The Party of the European Left condemns the brutal repression ordered by Prime Minister Erdogan after recent massive people demonstration in Taksim square asking government to resign after the big scandal of high corruption affecting government and PM’s party, AKP.
Besides this the religious party of Erdogan is threatening the principles of democracy and pluralistic society and trying to get control of the powers of the country, mainly the justice and the army.
We consider that Erdogan can not stay anymore in power. He has shown to be unable to solve the main social problems of his own people, to adopt a democratic and political solution to the Kurdish question, to end with the military occupation of Cyprus following UN resolutions, to play a positive role in Near East conflict.
Erdogan increases the authoritarian and repressive behavior of his government saying the affair is an international complot against it.
The great instability that Erdogan has created makes urgent to give the voice to the society and have general elections able to install a truly democratic government aware of the great challenge and big responsibility of Turkey fir its people and in the region.
