The Executive Board of the Party of the European Left (EL), gathered the 6th – 7th of July 2013 in Porto/Portugal, denounces the grave violation of human rights carried out against the president of Bolivia Evo Morales, not authorizing his presidential plane to land, in order to conduct a technical stopover at his return to Bolivia, after a travel to Moscow where he assisted to a summit of gas exporting countries.
The prohibition of landing is a violation of the current international agreements and treaties, in particular the Vienna Declaration on Diplomatic Relations, and that all the countries signatory countries have are obliged to respect, comply and enforce its provisions. We totally support the statement of Ricardo Patiño, foreign minister of Ecuador.
For this reason the EL denounces that violation of international law by the governments of Portugal, France, Italy and Spain, which we are sure is inacceptable for the majority of our population which defends the human rights of all citizens of the world. We demand from the political responsibles the explanation for these activities and a respective excuse.
