The Party of the European Left denounces the unprecedented
authoritarianism of the Greek government and its attempt to censor
freedom of speech and information by closing down its nation's public
service broadcaster ERT . At the same time we support the mobilisation
of the Greek people and the solidarity movements all over Europe.

We welcome the immediate decision of the European Broadcasting Union to broadcast ERT through its website.
The struggle for freedom of speech must continue in Europe. The EL
demands from all European governments to denounce the actions of the
Greek government and it will undertake activist and institutional
initiatives on European scale, in order not to allow the censorship of
Greek public media.
