In a period when the Greek "internal troika" government chooses to escalate the repression and target all social and political groups that resist against the disastrous Memorandum strategy of super-austerity, the Greek trade-unions have called for a new general strike, on Wednesday, 20 February.

The EL fully supports the general strike in Greece and calls upon every worker, every unemployed, marginalized and suppressed citizen to turn the 20th of February into a day that will signal the clear rejection by the Greek people of the pro-troika government coalition of the Memorandums of disaster and the super-austerity programs, that have led to the explosion of unemployment, the termination of collective contracts and bargaining and the transformation of the crisis into a humanitarian catastrophe with millions of victims. Strong street mobilisations can break the fragile majority at the parliament and led to political change.

Let the 20th of February signal the massive return of the Greek resistance movement to the foreground of social and political confrontation with the forces of the capital. Let the 20th of February become another important step in the fight for a decisive political change for Greece and Europe!
