The fiscal treaty does not respect the European law (Pierre Laurent)

The Parliamentary Group of the European United Left - Nordic Green Left (GUE-NGL) in the European Parliament has just released an expert's report proving that the fiscal treaty does not respect the European law, in formal as well as content-related criteria.

The results of Professor Andreas Fischer-Lescano's* analysis are clear: not only the chosen form of the Treaty prevents its application, but in depth, the choice of "governance", the "debt brake" and automatic sanctions are contrary to EU law. The report points also to the fact that the European Parliament's rights are violated because, "The commission is not sufficiently subject to democratic control through the implementation of the tax treaty”.

This is a new argument in favour of the non-ratification of the treaty, we can add to the rejection of permanent austerity and transfer of sovereignty to the European Commission, whose powers are definitely excessive.

Many elected officials and political leaders of the European Left, with French citizens, will say that France should not ratify the treaty, and thus open a hope for all the peoples of Europe, on Sunday, September 30 in Paris, during the demonstration.
