The Party of the European Left, expresses its most sincere and heartfelt condolences to the families of the hundreds of victims of the earthquake that hit Southeast Turkey.

The fact that we live in a region that often we have to face natural disasters, forces us to express once more our fraternal solidarity in such moments.

The highly seismic region as well as the recent conflicts in the region is a further reason for being against the construction of nuclear plants in the area, which as demonstrated in the recent past, is not safe.

The cooperation of our peoples to prevent the construction of such plants is urgent as ever, to avoid future disasters.
