The European Left salutes the hundreds of thousands of citizens who flooded Syntagma Square in Athens and tens of other central squares all around Greece .

Larger and larger parts of the Greek society are now forming a front of resistance, democracy and dignity. The answer of the society is becoming stronger and stronger every day that passes: Enough with the consecutive Memorandums! Enough with austerity, unemployment, depression, authoritarianism! People in the squares of Greece are now rediscovering solidarity and collective action against isolation and the violence of poverty; they refuse to remain silent and to be cruely victimized by the destructive and repressive policies of Papandreou's government and the IMF-ECB-EU troika. They are joining voices to demand real democracy, social justice, decent wages and pensions, guaranteed social protection.

We commit ourselves to help this voice grow and become a new victorious hope all over Europe .
