The founding Meeting of the EL Balkan Network will take place on the 27 ^th – 29 ^th May in Sofia, Bulgaria.

Under the theme “The EU, the Balkans and the crisis”, left parties and social movements from ten countries of the region will discuss the political aims of the network and the ways of a future cooperation and common campaigns.

Besides the crisis consequences, the participants will also debate other key issues for this region such as the militarization and the fight for peace, the European immigration policies and the repressive laws and reactionary campaigns against the Left and the progressive forces in both EU and non-EU countries and the rise of the extreme right-wing parties and neofascist organizations.
