People of the popular uprising have several times expressed their refusal of any foreign intervention of this kind, which could also be used by the Kadhafi regime to its advantage with accusations that the popular insurrection supports it against the interests of the Libyan people.

We condemn the brutal repression of demonstrators and we denounce the massive sales of weapons that the EU Member States have conducted with Libya and other repressive regimes.

EL warns of the serious humanitarian situation being suffered by the thousands of Libyans along the border with Tunisia and by those arriving on the island of Lampedusa .

We demand that the EU deals with the situation faced by these people who cannot be returned to their country or to other countries because their lives would be endangered.
