It starts today the European Sustainable Energy Week which is the reference event for sustainable issues in Europe. Organized by the Directorate-General for Energy and Transport, this week wants to focus all attention on the energy policy targets within the fields of renewable energy sources, energy efficiency, clean transport and alternative fuels.

But because the European Left thinks that is still so much to do in relation to climate and environmental politics a great conference will be organized in Lisbon, on the 26 th and 27 th March. Speakers from different countries and several backgrounds will meet and try to begin the green revolution because “Climate is fed up of us!”.

After the big failure of Copenhagen, it is time to ask “where do you we go from here?” and “what can and we must change in our daily lives?”. Ecologists, scientists and politicians working in these areas will try to reply to these problems. The Party of the European Left will be present in different panels with our President Lothar Bisky, Soren Rasmussen from RGA, Marisa Matias and Francisco Louca, from Left Bloc.

On the first day f the meeting, Jean-Pascal van Ypersele (vice-president of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change of UN) and Ian Angus (Eco-socialism International Network, founder and director of Socialist History Project, and editor of Socialist Voice) will promote lively discussions on the climate change history and possible solutions of eco-socialism.

The ecological and social movements will continue over the table on the second day with Tom Kurcharz from Ecologistas en Accion and David Rovics from Democracy Now. Three Portuguese environmental researchers will also show us projects on renewable energy sources such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides, and geothermal heat.

Finally, and because our climate conscience should be present in our minds since the childhood, there will be sensibilization campaigns on the ground for children and a biological market.
