The European Left deems unacceptable that whole countries become hostages of a quarrel which takes into consideration nothing but personal corporative or political interests.
The European Left reiterates that natural resources are common public goods and have to be managed according to the public interest. The European Left demands the strengthening of public and social control over the administration of natural resources.
We call the EU, the European countries and the involved sides to immediately find a solution in order to ensure the regular supply of gas in the affected countries. As a question of energy security, it is absolutely necessary to create a mechanism that will prevent the risk of having similar energy supply crises in the future. The only criteria for the solution of the crisis should be the well-being of the people who live in these countries.
