Open debates about the precarious situation in Europe, the neoliberal EU agenda, the crisis of democracy, and the role of the EU in the world took place during the daily plenary sessions. Specific questions, such as the reform of the education system, migration from the East and South, the European social model, and the consequences of 'flexicurity' for the young were discussed at a total of 12 workshops. The event in Paris also provided for the possibility to talk about the development and proposals of the European Left in light of the 2009 European elections.
