Go to newsInvitation to the 3rd Meeting of the Network “Trade Unionists in the European Left Party“ February 01-03 2008 in Vienna, Austria
Dear comrades!
Thanks to the initiative of the working group “Betrieb und Gewerkschaft“ (Enterprise and trade union) of “The Left – PDS“, which has invited to a first meeting in 2005 in Berlin, the network of trade unionists of the ELP has been founded. Our network is one of several within the EL that aim at linking together different specific fields of political activities.
Different projects on EU – level, like the directions of services, the green book of labour laws the directive of working hours or the deregulation and privatisation of public services have already lead to the expression of common views of our network, within the European Left Party and beyond.
In continuation of the meetings in Berlin 2006 and Athens 2007 the preparatory committee that consists of representatives of DIE LINKE (Germany), CPA (Austria) and EUiA (Catalonia) invites to the next meeting in Vienna from February 1st to 3rd 2008.
At this meeting we want to concentrate on two topics:
1. Minimum Social Standards in Europe
2. International Co-operation by the example of the Dock Workers of Europe and Latin America
Furthermore the development of the structure of the network should be discussed. A press release about the content of the meeting and the next tasks of the network is planned.
We ask you to register not later than January 5th 2008 at the address given at the top of the page.
The meeting will start in the morning of February 2nd and will end on February 3rd at 13:00 hours. The participants are supposed to arrive on February 1st.
You will find a more detailed programme and an agenda on the EL-website and the website of CPA in the near future.
