Dear comrade, Dear friend Lothar,

We congratulate you warmly and are delighted with your great electoral success, which is hopeful for the whole of Europe.

The left wing citizens, men and women, approved the unifying venture of the PDS and the WASG. The social, ecological, peace-promoting and feminist antineoliberal proposal of your party   gained the support of a large section of German society; for the fight against unemployment and the protection of the welfare state, the resistance to militarism and the promotion of universal peace.

The united action of the forces of the left on a programmatic level and in the mass movement is the only way to regroup the forces that struggle under the difficult conditions of neoliberal globalisation.

We look forward to the further development of solidarity and cooperation between our parties on a bilateral level but also within the framework of the European Left party. We are awaiting with anticipation your participation to its First Congress in Athens, at the end of October.
