We, members of the Party of European Left:

1. Having considered the arrest of Kurdish activist  Sinan Bozkurt by the Greek authorities, following  an extradition by the German government,
   
   
2. Taking into account the fact that the charges  he faces are serious, and that they stem from  his political beliefs and his courageous activities  for human and democratic right in Turkey,
   
   
3. Taking into account  the Greek Supreme Court, while rejecting two  of the three accounts on which Mr. Bozkurt was  charged with, accepted that the third was based  on fact, although the accused has already been cleared in this particular respect by the German  courts and has received compensation by the German  authorities,
   
   
4. Knowing that the final decision on  the extradition Mr. Bozkurt rests with the Greek  Minister of Justice,
   
   
5. Believing that the extradition  of people bases on unsubstantiated accusations  is definitely a political matter which reduces  democratic freedoms and the democratic rights  of citizens,

unite our voices with the voices of those many  organizations in Greece who stand with Mr. Bozkurt  and we call on the Greek Minister of Justice of  refuse the request for his extradition to Germany.
