mailto: Dear comrades!
The women's network of EL member- and observer parties has started it's work. As we decided in Rome, we have established a mailing list and we are making preparations for the women's assembly before the first EL party congress takes place. We are grateful that Forum delle donne del Prc has taken the initiative to invite women to Rome Sep. 15th to coordinate the preparation of the women's assembly. <//span>
Like EL the women's network also "Its just a beginning". We kindly ask you, members of the Executive Board, to spread the idea and the concrete possibilities of EL women's network in your parties by for example
- making acquaintance of the resolution of the foundation congress (enclosure);
- making acquaintance of the women's network to your party and especially to your women's and feminist structures resp. militants. The mailing list address is: el_fem@eurolist.org;
- supporting the network's discussions and activities by publishing them in your press.
For us women from member- and observer-parties EL is a great opportunity to share experiences, to qualify our discusssions, to strengthen our connections with other women's organisations and develop activities on an European level self organized and self responsible.
Thank you for your support
Imma Barbarossa (Prc), Jaroslava Cardová (KP Bohemia and Moravia), Litsa Doudoumi (Synapsismos), Katarina Ferro (KPOE), Christiane Reymann (PDS), Hilary Wainwright (Red Pepper, UK)
ENCLOSURE: Resolution of the Founding Congress of the European Left Party
We want to state from the Founding Congress onwards women contribute to building up the new party and start to build networks in the EL. The Founding Congress is asked to instruct the Executive Board to support activities of the women through establishing mailing lists, through securing women's presence on the EL web page and through supporting the organisation of a women's assembly (consisting of women from the parties participating in the EL and, following the statues, of unorganised women who are individual members of the EL) before the first party congress takes place. During the time our women's assembly will work out, among other topics, a proposal of how women will act in the EL in the future. The results of these discussions shall be implemented into the statutes of the European Left party on the first congress of ELP.
