Despite the never seen degree of unprecedented hate campaign, the publicly funded propaganda campaign, the explicit and implicit threats, the Hungarian voters have not given authorization to the government shifted to the extreme right to act in our country and abroad on behalf of the majority regarding the issues of the refugees.

Due to the one-sided, false and illegitimate referendum campaign, the whole referendum comedy is undemocratic, so the results are considered as manipulated. PM Viktor Orban has been unable to muster a majority of the Hungarian voters behind his hateful extreme right-wing politics questioning the validity of the international law and the fundamental human rights.

The voters has given a clear signal that they are dissatisfied with the current power and expect from the elected representatives to solve the real problems and the social crisis. However, the European Left warns the people committed to the spirit of the Democratic Republic that the referendum failure of the government does not mean a victory over the far-right forces.

The current dictatorial regime can only be overthrown with an economic program suitable for poverty eradication and the fundamental democratic rights can be protected by mobilizing the losers of the current system.

Based on the policies of solidarity, fairer taxation as well as the respect of human rights and the rejection of the neoliberal austerity measures, the European Left is ready to launch a joint struggle against the extreme right-wing government that continues to increase  the poverty and the oppression.

The invalid referendum will also have a consequence of public law. We will give a sack to the ruling government.
