The Vice-President and head of international relations of the Party of the European Left, Maite Mola, traveled this Sunday to Cartagena de Indias, Colombia, to participate as guest in the historical signing of the peace agreement between the government of Juan Manuel Santos and the FARC-EP. From there she expressed her hope that in the referendum of the 2nd of October “the Colombian people will support massively this agreement which was just signed with a clear ‘Yes’”.

This agreement will end 52 years of war that left more than 6.7 million victims. For that reason, Maite Mola declared that this “Peace Agreement is imperative for the Colombian society to progress towards solidarity, justice and equality which represent the maximum values of the leftist humanism”.

To the desire of establishing a stable and long-lasting peace, has joined the demand of implementation of the reached agreements, such as to end the presence of paramilitary armies, the fulfillment of the agreements of Guarantee of Security and Reincorporation in civil life of guerrilleros y guerrilleras and of the social and economic development programs achieved in the agreements to fight the inequalities in which the country lives.
