This 13 of August 2016 is the 90th birthday of the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, comandante Fidel Castro.

 

Today the World Social Forum 2016 is still ongoing in Montreal, Canada, where many of his progressive ideas and fights are still inspiring us.

 

For all those who struggle for social progress and human emancipation, Fidel Castro represents an outstanding example. His denouncement of imperialism and his analysis of social and political problems have helped many people in their fight for liberty, independence, self-determination and justice.

The Party of the European Left (EL) wishes Fidel, the Communist Party of Cuba and Cuban people all the best on this important occasion for their struggle against the blockade, the "common position" formulated by the EU as well as the occupation of Guantanamo.
