The Party of the European Left (EL) regrets and rejects the coward terrorist attack carried out by DAESH in a commercial area of the district of Karrada in Baghdad, around midnight on Saturday July 2th, when people were celebrating the night of Ramadan.

The killers blew up a van loaded with bombs that has caused more than 120 deaths and 130 wounded. The attack was carried out against the preparation of the Eid that marks the end of the month of Ramadan, in a concentration of "renegades" - describing Shiites, struggling against the ISIS as renegades in the statement by the group responsible for this attack. This attack is carried out at a time when DAESH is losing control of the ground in Iraq and had to leave Fallujah, one of the three major cities they had seized.

Among those killed, there are members and supporters of the Iraqi Communist Party, whose leadership denounces the intention to destroy any possibility of joy in Iraq, a country that since its destruction by NATO, U.S. and European leaders - as the Quartet of the Azores, José María Aznar, Tony Blair, Georg W. Bush and Jose Manuel Durao Barroso - is plunged in terrorism, corruption and the desaster in the attempts of democratic solutions from the chaos introduced by imperialism.

The EL strongly condemns this criminal act as well as expresses our condolences to the families of those killed and wishes a quick recovery to the injured. We expect a sooner disappearance DAESH-terrorism and demand repercussions to those who have plunged the country into this horrible situation.
